Tribes

A few Tribes books/resources/activities accumulated

This textbook is filled with several activities
that students can do. Teachers can alter the
activities so that they fit curricular expectations.
This resource has several planning activities
colour coded and packed together. This is a great
and easy access resource when on ht

"This is a metre length of string. But it's not
just a metre length of string. It's a Hershey Kiss"
This activity could be applied to a variety of subjects.
For example, have the students explain a nickel. They
could come up with "this is a nickel, but it's not really
a nickel, its 5 pennies." The teacher could make this
a fun creative activity by using a scarf. The teacher
would have the students in a circle, and have the scarf
in his or her hands. The teacher would start by saying,
"this is a scarf, but it's not really a scarf, it's a hat!"
Then the teacher would pass the scarf to the next
person in the circle, and each student will get a chance to
come up with something creative they think the scarf is.

This is simply a shower curtain that has numbers up to 100. This activity involved estimation. Students wrote down their
estimation of how many raisins they thought were in a box. They wrote their prediction on a paper and crumpled it up, and threw it on this mat closest to the number they guessed. After each guess is thrown, each student will grab a someone else's prediction, read it, and then place it on the number the person predicted. The measuring tape behind the curtain shows how many people guessed on each number, which could further turn into a mean, median, and mode activity.
